Meaningful Changes
In 1995, Kimberly earned her bachelor’s degree in education from Montana State University Northern, followed by a Master’s Degree in Education in 2002and later another Master's Degree in Professional Counseling in 2015, all from Montana State University Northern. With over a decade of experience in education and counseling, Kimberly brings a diverse background to her practice.
In pursuing a career in mental health, Kimberly’s journey started as a Behavioral Specialist in a school setting. After completing her counseling degree, she changed her focus from working with children of all ages to working with men and women in correctional settings. She was devoted to providing mental health services to a challenging population because she believes people can change. Her leadership skills lead to her supervising case management, crisis intervention, and treatment development.
Kimberly offers a range of therapeutic services, including individual, family, couples, and group counseling and consulting to certain organizations.
Central to Kimberly’s therapeutic approach is the belief that the counseling process is a collaborative alliance with clients discovering how to become experts in their own lives. Within this framework, clients from various stages in their lives, backgrounds and ages can discover their inner strengths to promote healthy daily living and add problem solving skills to their toolbox enhancing positive change.
With a strong passion for making a difference in the lives of others, she possesses a unique perspective that enriches her work with clients facing past trauma, various first responders, hospital personnel, funeral employees.
Along with Kimberly’s dedication to treating challenging populations, she has the training and knowledge to treat professionals in leadership positions, police officers, firefighters, veterans and fellow paramedics in managing post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), drawing from her own firsthand experiences in having been in high leadership positions and crisis situations.
Specializing in a diverse range of mental health concerns, Kimberly focuses on helping clients navigate and overcome challenges related to depression, anxiety, substance use, and grief/loss/trauma. Her approach is holistic, addressing not only the immediate symptoms but also the underlying issues that contribute to clients' struggles. Kimberly is particularly adept at guiding adults through major life transitions, recognizing the impact these changes can have on mental well-being. Kimberly’s specialty is truly meeting people where they are at in their journey.
A cornerstone of Kimberly’s therapeutic philosophy is her commitment to practicing with positive unconditional regard. She prioritizes creating a safe and nonjudgmental space where clients can explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences freely. By fostering an environment of acceptance and understanding, Kimberly has a natural way of individuals experiencing how easy it can be to open and engage in the therapeutic process with trust and confidence.
Having worked with children and in the challenging environment of correctional settings, her versatility is evident in her work with both children and adults, showcasing her ability to tailor therapeutic interventions to meet the unique needs of diverse populations.
